It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself  to you as the newly appointed principal of Corona Fundamental Intermediate School. As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-are excited to be here!  This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. 

At CFIS, we believe in traditional values, high expectations, and successful students. At CFIS, we provide students: a rigorous, standards-based educational program, a safe, supportive learning environment, and an emphasis on problem solving, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. CFIS students will become contributing members of society who respect peers, authority, and their country. The Falcon is the fastest animal in the world obtaining speeds above 180 miles per hour as it dives toward prey. It is one of the most successful birds of prey in the world. I point this out, because CFIS students are some of the most successful students in the Corona-Norco Unified School District. Their ‘pursuit’ of knowledge focuses on a strong adherence to a basic set of principles.

In addition to the focus on academics, our campus prides itself on offering a vast array of programs, clubs, and co-curricular activities which establish a connection for our students to our campus. As a new student, find something of interest, get involved and get connected. Throughout our campus, you will find students, parents, teachers, classified staff, counselors, and administrators eagerly working to help all students succeed. Our staff is dedicated and committed to doing what it takes to help all students learn at high levels.

The intermediate school years are pivotal in the life of your child and we are privileged to partner with you during this very unique time in your child’s life. It is because of this, we hope that you will stay involved and connected and keep the lines of communication open. Parent participation is strongly encouraged throughout the year. Parent Connect is updated on a regular basis to inform parents of their child's progress. We have a Community Liaison to assist parents and provide them with important information to help support their child. If you are interested in getting involved, please consider joining and volunteering for our PTA, IB Boosters, or School Site Council and attend school functions and information nights. 

Our staff is composed of highly qualified individuals who are committed to the education of every CFIS student, and we work together to ensure students receive the individual attention they need to experience success in middle school. Communication is key to the success of your child. I encourage you to communicate with teachers via email or phone. The teacher is the person who will have the most direct information to address most questions or concerns. We strive to provide a high standard of service to our students and their families.
